The Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) offers international students in Canada an opportunity to work full-time after completing their studies, providing a pathway to gain valuable work experience and potentially immigrate to Canada permanently.
How to Apply PGWP
- Ensure their study permit remains valid.
- Apply within 180 days from the date of receipt of the letter of completion or official transcript.
- Submit the application with required documents to the appropriate immigration office.

Eligibility
The PGWP duration aligns with the length of the study program, offering up to 3 years for programs of 2 years or more. While the immigration officer determines the final decision, e-Visa's expertise and network of partner schools can guide students through the application process, ensuring a smooth transition from student to professional life in Canada.
- The chosen institution must be a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) recognized by the government.
- The program completed must be at least 8 months in duration and full-time.
- The program must lead to a degree, diploma, or certificate.
- The student's current study permit must remain valid at the time of application.
Ineligibility
Students are not eligible for a PGWP if
- The program completed is a language program.
- The student has already obtained a PGWP in the past.
- More than half of the program was completed via distance learning.
